Happy Birthday to Beloved

Beloved at Julington Creek, Florida

Happy Birthday to my precious late husband on his 1st birthday in Heaven. What a good man he was to me! He had some pithy words of wisdom that often come to my mind:

1. Even a broken clock is correct two times a day
2. Common sense isn't
3. Nothing's so bad it can't at least serve as a bad example

His favorite verses were Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

Every Sunday morning he would grab the doorknob to the garage and say to me with a smile, "Let us go into the house of the Lord." My habitual response was always, "I was glad when you said that unto me!"

Basing a marriage on the Lord is the only way for success. God was faithful to us. I thank You, Heavenly Father, for the love of a good man.

  1. Yes, your "Beloved" was truly a very good man, and you were so blessed to have been his loving partner in marriage for so many good years. Happy Birthday to your dear Beloved in heaven today. I know he is celebrating with Jesus and all the saints who've gone before us...and I bet he has heard your Happy Birthday wishes and is sending love beams back to you. Somehow I just think that happens...may not be theologically correct, but theologians don't know everything. Do something special today in memory of your dear sweet Tom. Plant a flower or a tree or something else that will honor his memory. He truly was a good good man. God bless you dear friend. My thoughts are with you today. (((hugs)))

  8. That is such a great picture of your Beloved! I like to think of him greeting Joe in Heaven and trading some of those words of wisdom and silly puns. We just have to rely - not on our own understanding... I think we are both being directed, Barb, and we just need to listen and keep the faith. I am sure Tom is proud of you. I know that I am. Love & hugs!!
