A Relationship with Jesus Christ

God wants to have a personal relationship with every one of us. He created us, He loves us, and He wants us to spend eternity with Him.

He also wants us to know him personally in the here and now. He wants to have fellowship with us right now, to enjoy His Presence, His blessings, and His wisdom for directing our lives.

Very simply, to have that relationship and to know you are going to heaven, you must:

- understand you have sinned

- understand that to spend eternity with Holy God, a price needs to be paid for your sins

- believe that Jesus' death on the cross paid for your sins

- understand that good works absolutely cannot get you into heaven nor make up for your sins

- pray to ask His forgiveness

- tell Jesus you accept His death as the payment for your sins

Here are scriptures from the Bible that explain how to know you are going to heaven.

A - admit that you are a sinner
Romans 3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous, not even one."
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

B - Believe Jesus died for your sins
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His love toward us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9-10 If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

C - Call upon the name of the Lord
Romans 10:13 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

That is all there is to it! Salvation (the assurance of our place with God for all eternity) is a free gift that cannot be earned or acquired with good works. We have to surrender to Christ and ask Him for it. Not everyone will be saved -- just those who seek Jesus.

Have you made this decision? Today, right now, is the best time to do this. Death can suddenly overtake a person, leaving no time to accept Christ as personal Savior. Now is the day of salvation.

Here is a prayer to get you started:
Lord Jesus: I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord, for saving me and for answering my prayer. Amen.

Next steps:

Read your Bible every day to learn more about Jesus.
Find a church that teaches these truths and attend regularly.
Tell someone of the decision you have made to follow Jesus.
